FOX 17, Tribune Broadcasting’s FOX affiliate in Grand Rapids, has announced that Garry Frank will be joining the FOX 17 Morning News team as a Meteorologist.
Frank was introduced during the morning news broadcast last Thursday, with last Friday being the first FOX 17 Morning News broadcast featuring Frank in his new role.
Frank comes to the station from KYMA, the CBS affiliate in Yuma, Arizona, where he was the Chief Meteorologist.
“We are excited to welcome Garry Frank to FOX 17. He is an experienced forecaster with a great personality and sense of humor,” said Brooks Blanton, News Director. “We are confident that he will be a good fit in our weather department and a great addition to FOX 17 Morning News.”
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Frank attended the University of Missouri to study Meteorology, graduating in 2006. He began his career in the weather department at the NBC affiliate in Kansas City before working at KYMA in Yuma.
“I’m really excited to get back to the Midwest,” said Frank. “I’ve spent 3 years in the desert heat and I’m ready to get back into an area with rapidly changing weather! West Michigan is beautiful, and I’m happy to join such an outstanding team at FOX 17. I’m looking forward to waking up with you each and every morning.”
