Bill O’Reilly has been unceremoniously fired by the Fox News Channel following a number of sexual harassment claims.
Ratings topper, Bill O'Reilly has been dismissed by Fox News Channel following a spate of sexual harassment claims and an internal investigation that seemed to indicate that there could be more in the woodwork with staffers and colleagues of the veteran host.
Earlier in April, five allegations were made against O'Reilly, but at that time 21st Century Fox, the owner of Fox News Channel, stood by their star presenter. Settlements were made in respect of the allegations totalling some $13 million.
Despite the settlements, advertisers deserted "The O'Reilly Factor", and women's groups loudly called for his dismissal.
21st Century Fox eventually gave in and said in a statement; "After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel."
A new show, Tucker Carlson Tonight will take over the 8pm timeslot, broadcasting live from FNC’s Washington, DC bureau. Additionally, The Five, a popular panel-based debate show, has moved into the 9pm timeslot.
