Canada's TSN scored record audiences for it's coverage of the MLS season opener between Vancouver Whitecaps against Toronto FC.
Overnight data from Numeris (BBM Canada) confirmed an average audience of 353,000 viewers tuned in to see the all-Canadian matchup, making it the most-watched MLS game in TSN history.
Overall, 1.9 million unique viewers tuned in to MLS ON TSN to watch some or all of the network’s exclusive coverage of the game, which featured the return of a strong Whitecaps FC squad and the debut of a revamped Toronto FC team, featuring prized off-season signings Jozy Altidore, who scored twice, and Sebastian Giovinco, who provided an assist on Altidore’s opening goal, in TFC’s 3-1 victory at a sold out BC Place in Vancouver.
MLS on TSN’s live coverage continues this weekend with games featuring Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Vancouver Whitecaps FC visits Chicago this Saturday (March 14) at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on TSN1, TSN3, and TSN4, while TFC heads to Ohio to take on rivals Columbus at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN2.
