According to a recent international survey commissioned by BBC Worldwide, British humour is the number one reason why Australian audiences tune into British television.
So Australian audiences should be happy with UKTV’s April line-up which offers viewers the perfect mix of great British humour and quality entertainment from two of the UK’s most popular comedians — the self-deprecating Alan Carr and the critically-acclaimed writer and actor, Ruth Jones.
Kicking off on April 21, the new series of Alan Carr: Chatty Man premieres at 9.30pm with even more laughter, silly antics, top music acts and a stellar line-up of guests including music chart toppers Rita Ora, Will.i.am, Tom Jones and Spanish actor and director Antonio Banderas — all in the first episode.
Next up is the irresistibly warm, moving and very funny comedy drama, Stella starring BAFTA nominated Ruth Jones. Premiering from April 29 at 9.30pm, the new series is full of misunderstandings, too many people and things that go a bit wrong.
Stella is busy as usual juggling family life with her nurse training at the hospital. She and Michael are living happily together, but when Michael has a bit of midlife crisis, everything is turned upside-down. Stella’s career as a nurse is going from strength to strength, but can the same be said for her love life?
